Nick Symonds

Nick Symonds became a partner with the firm in 2019. Prior to joining Shelley & Co, Nick
was a partner with Potter Shelley & Co and still retains a very good client base from the
area.

Nick has previously worked for a regional firm, specializing in complex Crown Court cases
and often representing high-profile sports clients. Although he is predominantly a criminal
lawyer, Nick also has experience in Civil and Commercial Litigation and has handled cases in
the Royal Courts of Justice.

Nick has represented clients with a wide range of mental health issues on a variety of
offences, he has defended clients in a wide range of serious and complex cases and he is
also a very keen trial advocate.

Notable cases:

R v S

Represented client charged with a serious s18 GBH where the defendant was accused of
stabbing her partner. Case was dropped before reaching trial.

R v B & G

Instructing solicitor in long-running case involving alleged fraudulent use of equine Thermo-
imaging cameras in human breast screening. All bar one minor charge was dropped prior to
trial.

R v W (A Youth)

Trial advocate representing youth with significant learning difficulties accused of a serious
assault. Special measures and intermediaries were required at trial before the client was
acquitted of all charges.
