She subsequently worked for a number of years as a Lecturer in Anthropology at the London School of Economics. After leaving academia, she worked as a journalist, translator and Citizens Advice Bureau Adviser, as well as serving for four years as a school governor. In 2009, she decided to embark on a legal career. Between 2009 and 2011, she studied part-time for the GDL with BPP in London, before continuing with the LPC and beginning her training with Adams Harrison in March 2013.
